These scarf masks are almost exactly what I was looking for, but don’t quite offer the protection I expect in a mask. The mask area is no thicker than the rest of the chiffon scarf and only has a small pocket to add a filter. See attached image of the dark navy mask draped over my laptop screen. If they had added just one or two layers of cotton or jersey fabric around the mask area, it would be perfect! I would feel comfortable wearing this as-is outdoors where risk is minimal, but for indoor use, I will look into safety pinning a disposal mask to the inside. The craftsmanship of the scarf is pretty good, especially for something so inexpensive. All of the edges are finished, everything appears to be symmetrical, and the fabric is soft. The ear loops are soft and stretchy and adjustable. The size is about the same as a standard handkerchief/bandana. One reviewer complained that they were too small, but if it were any bigger it would flap in a breeze and defeat the purpose of a mask. The amazon image of the girl in the black shirt and the runner accurately show the size. The image of the hiker is not really accurate for an average sized adult and could lead you to believe the scarf is bigger than it is.You do have to tie the corners of the scarf around the back of your neck like a bandana, but if you have trouble with that, you could do it before putting it on. I have a normal sized head (I think?) and I was able to slip the scarf off without untying.Overall, it’s a pretty and practical solution to this unique problem the world is facing, but just a few small changes would have made it perfect!I bought these scarves with built-in masks to wear in situations where 1) I have to take the mask on & off frequently, and 2) I want to look a bit more professional. These mask do fit the purpose. However, it is important to note that although they are layered, they are thin and sheer, so they likely only provide minimal virus protection. You can enhance this by utilizing the filter pocket (filters not included). The scarf is definitely comfortable to wear, and it's nice that the straps are both soft and adjustable. I do find that it slips fairly easily off my nose (unless I make the straps too tight); a nose wire would have helped a lot, especially given that I am a glasses wearer. Also, when the scarf is just hanging around my neck, it definitely doesn't look as nice as a "normal" (no mask) scarf; you have to take care to tug the straps in if you want it to look better. Still, these scarves do work for me in certain situations, and in general, I would recommend them. These masks are fantastic. I scoured Amazon for probably 2 hours with a limited budget and a checklist of things including:- multiple layers of the correct fabric and/or a filter pocket- something that could be worn around the neck for convenience (temporarily, of course) but did not ALWAYS have to cover the back of your neck (ie a "gator"). It's freaking hot here in Tenn and I would sweat WAY too much to keep something around my face like that!- Ear loops (because of said desire for neck freedom :))- Fashion (Or at least some pretty colors. This is of course not required for health and safety reasons--But come on. Go cute or stay home... ya know? I never go anywhere anymore! I want to at least feel semi-cute when I get to leave the house! It's a self-care thing.- Multi-pack option for an affordable priceAnd let me tell you -- these met all of those requirements and more! When I opened the package I was pleasantly surprised how bright the colors were and how nicely produced each mask was. They're not perfect, a couple loose threads here and there. You get what you pay for. However, I didn't find any major issues and was pleased with the flexibility of fit and how secure the mask feels (and stays) once you find the right adjustment on the ear loops! Also, I get complimented every time I wear it or post a photo with it on.I have sent this link to so many of my girlfriends I should probably set up a referral account! When I signed on to write this review I saw they added two more multi-packs with new patterns and I added them to my cart. I actually think I'm going to buy another pack of solid colors and send them out as "thinking of you" gifts to my friends! So go on.. just do it already! :) You deserve to feel cute while you're keeping yourself and those around you safe, too!For a professional look when working in a office setting, I wear the balaclava over top of a disposable Face Mask. They match perfectly with my work outfits and I always receive compliments. Easy to wash and comfortable around the ears.I like these... one friend says they don't fit snuggly so they don't do what the mask is supposed to do... another says they are too lightweight to be effective.... my son says I look like a bank robber and my someone else accused me of wearing it to "mimic" someone from Afghanistan. Sigh. All that said... I like them! I think they work well enough... I'm not operating or face to face in enclosed spaces for extended periods of time! I'm walking in and out of stores where people are 6+ feet away anyway... And I think they are fashionable.Comfort and durabilityThe first thing to know, this is a gauzy material. It's transparent and thin. This is not a good protector against any germs. However, if you take just a moment to hand stitch a (reusable) mask to the inside of it, it's perfect.I prefer the scarf type masks, personally. It makes it easier to breathe while still being a responsible human and protecting myself and others against the pandemic. They also don't usually fog up your glasses.Having said that, this mask will not protect you or anyone else as is. BUT, if you sew (can even do a hand stitch, you don't have to be skilled at sewing to do it) the body of a regular mouth type mask inside it, it still works as well as a mask scarf, won't fog your glasses, AND protect.Fantastic product, got some extras for my mother who is claustrophobia and hates anything on her face. She can manage to wear these and has had lots of compliments on how attractive they are!
